Building Pathways Together: FFTITC's Skills on Country Forum Inspires Connection and Action
On 18 March 2026, a diverse group of leaders, educators, industry representatives and community voices came together at Mineral Resources Park for the inaugural Skills on Country Network Forum.
Grounded in the powerful theme of strengthening Indigenous connection to careers, the forum marked an important step in supporting First Nations young people as they move towards graduation and transition into meaningful work and training pathways.

Confidence in Action: Can Do Training
On Tuesday, 10 March 2026, Tony Palladino, Chief Executive Officer of the Food, Fibre and Timber Industries Training Council (FFTITC), had the pleasure of supporting students at Can Do Training by participating in a series of mock job interviews. The session formed part of a broader program coordinated by Marilyn Garbin, who delivered practical guidance to help students with intellectual learning disability and additional learning needs build confidence and prepare for employment. Good news for veterinary clinics: Vet Nurse traineeships now eligible for national priority incentive
There is positive news for the veterinary industry, with Veterinary Nurses now included on the Australian Apprenticeships Priority List for 2026. This change means that additional funding and support is available for veterinary nurse employers that choose to employ a trainee.

Sad News – Passing of Eva Ricci, Executive Officer WA Turf Industry
We were very sad to hear of Eva’s passing. Eva had been an industry stalwart for WA’s Turf Industry for so many years and was a long-term stakeholder of ours. She embodied what an industry association was all about with her passion, support and advocacy. Condolences to her family, friends and association members. She will be missed.

Skills and TAFE Minister Amber‑Jade Sanderson announced the appointment of Stephen Moir as the new Chair of the State Training Board. Stephen is well known to the FFTITC as he has been an observer on our board for the past couple of years. We look forward to working with Stephen in his new role.
