INDUSTRY FORUM - BUILDING DEMAND FOR IRRIGATION APPRENTICESHIP PLACEMENTS

Following the Irrigation Technology Training Industry Forum and Roundtable Mark II, held on 3 June 2026, FFTITC invites you to an industry meeting focused on building demand for irrigation apprenticeship placements.

The forum in June identified a clear and urgent priority: the industry must create a critical mass of suitable apprenticeship opportunities if it is to attract new entrants, build workforce capability and respond to emerging technology and skills needs.

As identified in Irrigation Australia’s Summer edition of Journal – the Overflow … The need to act is becoming increasingly important. Smart irrigation, remote sensing, sensors, controllers, telemetry and farm management software are rapidly changing the skills required across the sector. Water scarcity, increasing input costs and the move towards data-driven water management are also accelerating demand for irrigation professionals who can install, integrate and maintain increasingly sophisticated systems.

This meeting will bring together irrigation contractors, suppliers, local governments, employers, industry representatives, and Group Training Organisations to discuss the items listed in the agenda below.
